Description
Pascal Paoli who, all his life, signed Pasquale de’ Paoli, is a character of the Europe of the XVIIIth century today deeply ignored. We know, however, the interest of the attempt of the general of the Corsican nation – following a movement launched twenty-six years before him – to, at the same time, inscribe the ambitions of his island inside the treaties passed between the great powers for the control of the Mediterranean and to establish productive relations between the archaic world of Corsica and the great ideals developed by the Europe of the Enlightenment.
